Compliance recording

Every second on air, on record.

Regulators expect broadcasters to keep a record of what they transmit, and to produce it when a complaint or an enquiry arrives. Phrame records every channel as time-indexed media, so any moment you put on air can be found by its time — not by scrubbing through hours of files.

How it works

Record. Find. Review.

Compliance recording is not a separate logger bolted on to the end of the chain. It is the same store that Phrame uses for record and replay, pointed at what you transmit.

01

Record from the bus

TAMS, the time-addressable media store, takes live frames straight from the Phrame bus and records them as time-indexed segments. Programme outputs, and any source feeding them, can be recorded side by side.

02

Find it by time

Every segment is addressed by the time it was captured. Ask for a channel and a time range and you get exactly that span — the minute of a complaint, the break that ran long, the whole evening.

03

Review it anywhere

Replay a recording back onto the bus and watch it on a multi-viewer, with labels, clocks and audio meters, or deliver it to a browser over WebRTC for someone who is not in the building.

04

Hand it over

Send the span you need out through egress to a file, re-encoded as needed, ready to give to a regulator, a legal team or a client.

What is recorded

Whatever is on the bus.

Every source Phrame ingests is decoded into one raw-frame format on the bus, so the same recorder handles all of them.

Programme outputs
The channels you transmit, recorded as they leave the chain.
Contribution feeds
RTSP and SRT streams, DVB tuners, NDI and SMPTE ST 2110 sources.
File playout
Clips and programmes played from MP4, MOV, MXF and other files.
Time index
Every segment carries the time it was captured, so recordings line up across channels.

Why Phrame

Compliance without another box.

  • No separate logging appliance. Recording is a service on the platform you already run, placed and scaled like any other.
  • Standard hardware and storage. Add capacity with commodity servers and disks, not proprietary recorders.
  • Your recordings stay with you. Phrame runs on hardware you choose, on your premises or in a facility you contract, and works fully air-gapped.
  • An open model. TAMS follows the time-addressable media store model from BBC R&D, not a closed archive format.
